I woke up feeling dizzy. I moved my hands across the floor, searching for my glasses. My head was bursting with pain. I was bleeding. I grabbed my broken specs and held the other hand on my forehead to stop the blood flow. A white cream was applied to the cut. I could not remember much. Just a faded memory of sudden screams and a hit on my face as I was returning from the washroom. Something fell on my head, and the world was dark after that. Those screams, they were haunting. Holding the bench, I supported my frail legs and stood up, putting on my glasses. My heart stopped. I couldn’t breathe. I was petrified. The floor was drained with blood. I gasped and covered my face, walking out of the classroom with enough strength. Where were all the students? Or was I alone? The sun had already set and darkness was creeping in from the windows. The corridor had blood stains. My mind was failing to comprehend what must have happened in the last few hours. I tip-toed across the corridor, checking in every classroom to find someone.
“No no! We will not harm her. Not until we are ordered to do so.” came a loud irritated voice from the last room on the floor. I rushed and hid behind the door of the nearest classroom.
“What about the other kids and the teachers, sir?” asked a low voice with fear.
“We hold them hostages. But do not harm any of them. They don’t deserve to be harmed. Keep them safe along with the girl. Though let them be scared. Terrorize them.” the boss replied calmly.
“Yes sir” replied the group of men as they stomped their feet.
“Oh wait! What about the other boy? Is he still unconscious?” the leader enquired.
“Yes, I believe he isn’t awake yet. He was hit really hard. It will take time for his body to recover, considering we failed to find any good first aid kits in the school except a cream. Anyways, I’ll check on him in a while” replied a woman. I trembled.
“Alright then, stay on guard everybody. Let’s hope it’s the girl we all have been looking for for ages. Goodnight soldiers”
