PART 1- THE LOST PRINCESS
“Mesmerizing” whispered Maya.
“This way,” said the soldier as he signed Maya to walk towards the Palace. After walking for a few miles, she saw the queen waiting for her. She could sense her heart racing.
‘Your highness, who am I?” Asked Maya as she stood near the window of the queen’s chambers. The queen had insisted her to visit her chamber after she had freshened up. The tight but warm embrace from the queen as she entered the palace was disturbing but soothing Maya.
“I am afraid you would deny the truth” replied the queen with a deep breath.
“I would not accept untruth either your highness”
“You are good with words just like your…..” Maya sensed hesitation in the words of the queen.
“you are not who you believe yourself to be Maya.” The queen took a deep breath and continued.
“On the eve of Christmas, 2 children- a girl and a boy took birth. I was overjoyed when I held both of you in my arms but as fate challenged, the King was afraid. Afraid of the fate of the kingdom. He heard a prophecy that evening, a prophecy that is buried deep within him. He entered the room, held my hand, and whispered “I love you” that’s what he last said to me. He kissed the boy, raised you in his arms, and never returned. He never returned. The kingdom has been waiting for you since then. I have been waiting for you since then. I knew, fate would bring you back to me. You were drowned in the ocean for fate did not want you to fight the war but return to us. Maya, you have a destiny larger than you believe. The prophecy revealed something unknown to us but your father left me a note:
I would be long gone before you read this. Away from you, but forgive me. The prophecy has to be avoided. Maya must be protected. We must be protected. Her life is not ordinary and the secret has to be protected.
Goodbye Anna. Give my love to our son.
But you know, a part of the prophecy was revealed to me in a dream, a few days after your father left. It said that you will protect us from a danger that lies within the island. We do not know what your father knew, or what the prophecy held but all of it gave us a reason to wait. Wait for you to return. We believed that one day you would return.”
