She was sweating profusely. Her heart raced and her body shivered. Her hands were clutching the yellow bedsheet as she breathed heavily. The same dream haunted her. She glanced at her younger sister who was immersed in her sleep. She grabbed her phone and checked the time- 1:53 am. These dreams had been haunting her since the death of her aunt who died mysteriously a month ago. A deep breath and she closed her eyes, recollecting the creepy dream.

She is in a forest. It is dark and silent. No birds chirping or sounds of animals echoing. She is alone. She takes a step forward and traces the path along with the sun’s rays.

Walking a mile down the forest road, she reaches a riverbank. An ancient mirror is erected next to the highest tree she has ever imagined. She steps in front of the mirror and looks into it. The color of her eyes has changed. They are now emerald green. She raises her arm towards the mirror and touches her reflection.

The same mirror, but she is now in a creepy old room. The curtains are dusty and the spiders lure upon the walls. But it is someone else staring back at her. A dark figure with golden eyes. The entity has a golden pendant that looks familiar. Her golden eyes are speaking to her. Beyond words.

She gently opened her eyes. Grabbing her diary from the table, she switched on the bed lamp and scribbled the words that the mysterious entity said to her. No words came out. Instead, random figures came out onto the page. She turned the page left and right and turned it back but couldn’t read out the words. After staring at the page for another few moments, she gave up and turned the lamp off.

Gliding back into her sleep she heard the cupboard door creek. She was terrified. Her hands shivered. She turned on the lamp and silently stepped down, the diary tightly pressed under her arm. She tip-toed to the cupboard and with a deep breath looked into the mirror. The reflection was saying something. It was her reflection but yet was trying to say something beyond words. She knew what it was. Daringly, she opened her diary and turned the page with the mysterious symbols towards the mirror. It still did not make any sense. She rolled her eyes and reluctantly turned and walked away. She turned off the lamp and instantly dozed off to sleep.

She felt a deep pain in her chest. She opened her eyes and grabbed the jar and sipped in some water. It was  7:00 am already and the sun had crept in on the bed. The alarm failed to wake her up on time. With a deep sigh, she called out to her sister to wake her up. She moved her hands around her torso to identify the source of the instant pain. Her heart raced as she felt her hands hit a hard surface around her belly. With a deep breath, she raised her shirt and was petrified to find a small golden stone embedded around her belly. The stone had sharp edges and shone brightly. Tears rolled down her eyes as everything terrified her. Something was happening and she was chosen. She now could read the words she scribbled last night in her diary. As her hands shivered, she grabbed her diary and her breath froze as she read out the mysterious symbols-

“It is the end. We are back. Beware.”
