“You killed her!!” screamed Maya as she saw the girl lying on the ground, not breathing anymore. “why did you”. Maya’s rage and sorrow knew no boundaries. She wiped her tears and picked up the rod right next to her. With anger and hatred in her heart, she rushed towards the man with the knife that shed blood in his hand.
“do not move a step ahead lady or I’ll kill you as well” shouted a scared man. He was tall and well built. His long curly hairs tangled upon his head veiled his eyes. He wore a white suit, nothing like a killer would but the bloodstains on his suit suggested the truth.
Maya did not stop on the warning, there was nothing else for her to lose now. She raised the rod to shoot the man right in his face when the man caught up the rod. He threw it away and pulled Maya with her hair towards the girl lying on the ground. “Why does she have to intrude in my business,” he asked coldly. Maya could now sense his breath on her skin, she looked straight into his eyes, the blue gleaming eyes. After a long stare she whispered with tears rolling down her eyes “she is your daughter, why won’t she”
“you killed your daughter” Maya sobbed. The man’s hold loosened as he let her away.” tha-thaat isn’t possible. What the hell are you talking about?”
“I speak the truth” sobbed Maya.
“I don’t even know you” panicked the man.
” Kiara. do you remember her?”
“what?? she she was? she is my daughter? how do you know me?” the man stared at the girl on the ground. He wasn’t buying the fact that it was his daughter that he killed
“Please drop the gun. Though I feel like shooting you right away, I prefer reserving it for Kiara to do. Let me call her”
Maya turned and walked towards the girl and sat beside her head. She gently put her head on her lap and caressed her while dialing Kiara.
“Hello,” the man recognized her low voice instantly from the distance. He could not forget her.
“Kiara” sobbed Maya.
“hey? what is it? why are you crying? where are you guys? Maya?”
“you must come here instantly. I can tell no more on the call but just come here.”
“to the auditorium?”
“yup. the street behind the Auditorium”
“what is it but? you are freaking me out!!”
“Just come,” said Maya and hung up the call. She looked at the girl, murmured a small prayer, and finally turned to the petrified man.
“Hey, how how do you know me?”
Though filled with anger and hatred towards the man Maya replied ” Kiara. She said you were a gentleman back in the days. The photo of you two in the garden? remember? she has it pinned on her cupboard with the goodbye note you left.”
“She- shee remembers me?” those blue eyes were now filled with tears holding themselves up, not to erupt.
“You still think of her don’t you? so does she” sobbed Maya “What made you be this? I know this wasn’t the man Kiara fell in love with!! “
“ahhhh Ummm” the man could not speak a word. He walked towards his daughter and sat on the other side beside her staring right into her face.
“she saw you in the hall and ran towards you without a second thought. Whatever you were up to she wasn’t intruding in your matters, she just wanted to meet her father. yo-you should have seen her face, I had never seen her happier. what made you do this? Killing people? is that what you do?” asked Maya awfully.
“Maya! where’s, what is it, why is she lying on the ground” Kiara ran towards them. She felt something was wrong. Her mind was giving her sad images and probabilities but she dismissed each one of them. But reality held up those images when she saw her daughter lying dead on the ground. Her eyes erupted and she could not say a word. “ho-ww what oh my god what” she fell to the ground and cried at the demise of her daughter.
“who did this,” she asked sobbingly looking up at Maya.
Maya silently looked at the man who was still staring down at the girl. He gathered all his courage and looked at Kiara. He knew she was devastated but all he felt was love towards her. And guilt.
“Dhruv!” sobbed a petrified Kiara.
